Who am I?

About Jake

I’m Jake Kelza Pollock, a passionate advocate for Windsor-Essex and the chaotic good behind Made in YQG.

Through creative projects, unconventional collaborations and hands-on community work, I challenge the status quo by turning obstacles into opportunities.

Whether it’s showcasing grassroots initiatives, amplifying marginalized voices & local talent or connecting people with resources, my goal is to inspire action and build a stronger community in YQG.

Made in YQG

Made in YQG (@madeinyqg) is a community support initiative I launched during the pandemic to help struggling small businesses, organizations and artists in Windsor-Essex. What started with sponsoring giveaways and offering free social media promotion has grown into a platform dedicated to amplifying local voices through creative storytelling and collaboration.

By covering the costs of promotions and leveraging social media, Made in YQG gave local businesses meaningful exposure while they focused on staying afloat. Today, the initiative continues to evolve, using innovative video content and unconventional approaches to spotlight Windsor-Essex’s unique culture, support community causes and foster deeper connections.

My mission is to share opportunities, amplify voices and build a stronger, more connected region by breaking down barriers and fostering partnerships. I believe real growth comes from collaboration, not competition. When one of us succeeds, we all do.

Support YQG

Support YQG is a community-driven initiative dedicated to empowering Windsor-Essex County and the surrounding region through collaborations, creativity, and meaningful connections.

Our mission is to foster meaningful partnerships that uplift local organizations, businesses, artists, and changemakers. We do this by facilitating unique collaborations, creating spontaneous community events, and offering hands-on support like content creation, mentorship, and outreach services.

Our mission is to uplift local voices, foster meaningful connections, and create opportunities that help our region thrive.

We aim to build a region where local talent thrives, connections flourish, and everyone feels empowered to make a difference.

Addressing annoying facebook comments I've seen

Do you live in ward 2?

I don’t currently live in Ward 2, and I understand that residency is often seen as an important factor when choosing a candidate. For many, that metric makes sense.

But because of the nature of my community involvement projects, my work takes me across the city every day. I spend my time collaborating with people, businesses, and organizations throughout Windsor and Ward 2 is already a central part of that.

The truth is, I’m only ever home in Ward 5 to sleep. If elected, I would move to Ward 2 to further understand and involve myself in the ward.

Why did you announce your campaign so late?

To ensure I didn’t miss the deadline and opportunity to run, I submitted my nomination papers while my mom was getting an emergency bypass surgery and she was in ICU/hospital for the weeks following.

I spent the entire time in the hospital with her and I made sure she was home and in a reasonable health condition before announcing my candidacy.

omg nepotism he has political connections!

I’m not related to any politicians. I would call Richard daddy but he probably wouldn’t like that too much.

Any political connections I do have are a result of my own community involvement.

His social media presence is an unfair advantage!

I’m not on Instagram thirst trapping for views. My Instagram is a self-funded community support initiative.

If genuine community involvement is somehow seen as unfair, then maybe it’s time to question who has truly been putting in the work all along.

How many people are working on your campaign?

Myself.

While other campaigns have managers, social media people, assistants, etc. I have been working on this campaign alone while juggling family health emergencies.

While I do see the eventual need for help door knocking, I have declined help for all other aspects of my campaign to keep it as authentic as possible.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY ANNOYING QUESTIONS?

Prior to announcing my candidacy, the only question I kept seeing on Facebook was asking my personal relation to other politicians.

I’ve since added questions and answers here but I’ll keep the title for fun!
